There are lots of variants that impact the structure of our trees. From wind to rain, our trees are out there standing strong. Until they’re not! At Legacy Tree Care, we want to equip you with the knowledge to keep you and your community safe. Below, you’ll find information on what risk factors to look for following inclement weather and what to do when you see them.

Tree risk factors to look for as the weather changes:

1. Trees that are leaning or uplifting at the base.

2. Structural hazards, such as broken or dead branches surrounding the tree(s).

3. Other variables that can weaken the structure of your trees and their base, such as recent nearby construction or periods of drought.

What to do if you see tree risk factors:

1. Block off the area near the compromised tree(s) to prevent further danger to the community. If necessary, also block off surrounding areas in case the tree falls.

2. Call our team at (818) 618-7703 to have an ISA certified arborist visit your property to assess the damage and develop a treatment plan.

3. If the tree falls or if there is immediate danger, call one of Legacy Tree Care’s emergency relief team members at (818) 618-7703.

What to do to help prevent tree risk factors:

1. Call Legacy Tree Care to have an ISA certified arborist provide a proactive tree management plan.

2. Consider developing a Tree Care Management plan that includes removing older dangerous trees from your property and updating your urban forest.

3. Adequately water and fertilize your urban forest.
